Activity: Monitor Performance

Objective

This activity is crucial to determining the success of the program, and will impact into the future years. Accurate recording of data and performance is essential to demonstrate the level of 'sustainablity' the program achieved. Are the results being received achieving a status that could be deemed sustainable, showing business as usual or are they showing a more alarming trend.

Major Deliverables

  • Summary Reports

Tasks

Capture results using sustainability analysis system

Objective:

The newly designed system needs to be utilized now to capture the results in real time. Existing IT System protocols will also be in place. Ensure data is referenced if taken from an external system and associate data owner.

Measure performance through additional systems

Objective:

Here data is collated through the existing channels that were identified in previous phases. Data may be drawn out by an automated process into the sustainability analysis system, or if not possible transferred manually into the system.

Operate Sustainability Dashboard

Objective:

Viewing the data through a dashboard style display is an effective way to monitor performance across a number of areas. The data can be inputted in to the system as say energy utility bills for an organization and it can be displayed as carbon dioxide equivalent emitted, an indicator they are tracking.

Generate reports

Objective:

Once all the data has been captured it will need to collated by the data owners to be given to the Program Manager. Compare to previous year’s figures if available and try to account for any changes. Prepare the summary reports with data accompanied by a commentary on results.

Yellow Flags

  • If major changes in figures can not be accounted for the data will need to be rechecked at the source.
  • If data is not categorized accurately it will cause confusion when collating results.
