Activity: Project Execution
Objective
This is obviously the most important activity within the sustainability framework. The governance, data and reporting structures which have been set up in the previous phases now come into place. Data will be generated, information will need to be properly recorded and managed, and management will need to be informed of the results.
Tasks
Follow project plan
Objective:
All the planning in the previous phases pays off now as the project gets underway. The Project Manager should hold regular meetings with the team and issue any project briefs that are necessary. Status reports should be given to management throughout the project. Any issues that arise should be dealt within the existing framework at the organization for non-conformances, etc.
Conduct project in accordance with standard
Objective:
During Activity 4.1 a standard may have been selected for the project. The requirments for the standard will need to fully understand so that the project can operate in accordance. If the project is too immature at this stage you can seek to follow the 'spirit' of the standard and aim to improve. Or if mature with the approach you can seek to get the project certified. This would need to be done by an accrediated third party.
Input:
- Gap Analysis
- Current and Future state requirements
Output:
Yellow Flags
- Underestimating the resources required to complete the project.
- Not realizing that the project will not be in compliance with the standard till part way through.
